Things Every Man Wants Or Thinks He Wants
Whether he works a nine to five job in an office or rides the open range, there are things that every man doesn't have that he thinks he needs. It doesn't matter how practical they are or whether or not he'll ever actually use them, he wants them anyway.
Some men are fortunate enough to be able to buy just about anything they want. Since they can't decide whether they prefer a Rolex or a Tag, they buy a few of each. Undecided between a sports car and a luxury sedan, they buy both. Even though he might live in the midwest, if he can afford it, he'll buy a yacht, too.
The rich are a good example of how often we only think we want things. Every conceivable luxury product is just wish fulfillment for those who can afford it. The yacht that could sail around the world is lucky if it sees the outside of a harbor. The sports car that can go 200 miles an hour rarely tops 70. The Harley that's made for cruising cross country is just taken for an occasion spin around town.
We're all alike. For every ten that are sold, perhaps only one dreadnought acoustic guitar gets played like it's meant to be played. Guitars are every man's fantasy. It starts when they're teenagers. A guitar is just so cool. All men imagine themselves up on stage making the girls faint or sitting around a campfire making everyone admire their skill.
Then there's the mountain bike. Other than a bicycle messenger, what man who lives in the city really needs all the gears you get on a Schwinn mountain bike? That doesn't stop them from being sold, though. Most of them are sold to men who dream about needing 24 gears. There's nothing wrong with that, though, especially if they take the bike out for a ride once in awhile. The important thing is not how badly you need the gears, but how nice it is to know they are there.
All a man needs is an excuse and he'll run out and buy a homelite chainsaw, even if it's just to cut a few twigs off a tree in the yard. Men love everything about chainsaws. They love the feel of them, the sound of them and the way they effortlessly cut through wood.
Who is going to blame a guy for indulging his fantasies once in awhile? We all work hard and go through our day to day lives. It's a great feeling to just buy something that feels good to have once in awhile. It doesn't matter how often we actually use it. Sometimes, just having it is more than enough.
